    My system has been moving slowly and someone I work with suggested I may have a Trojan Horse or a Worm/worms.
    I have no clue how to tell if I have either. Is there some type of diagnostic that I can run to see.
    I have done Ad-aware scans and removed everything that it suggested.
    I do subscribe to: Norton Internet Security and keep that up to date as well as install my Windows updates.

    Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Please also "dummy down" the information when providing it to me because I don't always understand all the tech stuff.

    Thanks for the help.
    Stacey

    I am looking for Trojan Horses and worms. Can you tell if I have any from this log. If the log comes up clean, what other ways can I check for Trojan Horses and worms.
    TIA>

    I had Kazaa installed on my computer and want to remove it and all the downloaded songs.
    Can someone give me instructions on how to do that. The "for dummies" version would be most helpful.
    TIA.

    First off, you need to dump Kazaa, that is the root of your problems, downloading trojans and virus infected files thinking you are getting something for free, not to mention, it's illegal and we won't help you with that.

    We'll help you uninstall it and get your system clean, but we won't keep bailing you out if you choose to reinstall Kazaa.

    That being said, I don't know how much ram you have, but you have WAY too many programs loading at startup.

    Someone else will be along to help with the log, but I thought I'd make some clarifications.

    I see you have posted a thread asking how to remove Kazaa, very good, however, I'm going to merge it with this one, I also see you posted another one with your log, I'm going to close that one.

    Keep replying back to this thread please.

    I had no idea about all the crap that comes with Kazaa. I have tried unsucessfully to uninstall it. So I need some professional assistance.

    I did a post to get assistance with disinstalling Kazaa.

    As to how much RAM I have, I have no clue, but if you tell me how to figure it out, I can do that.
    Also, I realize I have way too much stuff at Start Up, but my Tech Support at Dell won't tell me what I do or don't need. I should also mention, that if I don't have everything checked in the Start Up screen, I am unable to check my Yahoo email from this specific computer. I have more than one Yahoo email address, and one of the addresses can not be accessed through this computer, but can be accessed through my Laptop. Go figure. Noone seems to be able to figure that one out. I am wondering if I get rid of Kazaa and all the other stuff that comes with it, if I will be able to access that Yahoo email account.
    Thanks again for anyone who assists me. I truly appreciate it.

    To find out how much ram you have, start, right click on my computer, properties. It should show there.

    Did you actually run thru the add/remove programs to uninstall Kazaa? If not, do that now, and post a new scan log.

    Here is the new log. It removed P2P and some kind of Bulldog thing. I don't use Bulldog-have no clue what it is.
    Was able to uninstall Kazaa. Isn't on my start menu anymore.

    Take it out of running processes via start, run, msconfig, startup tab. Kazaa and P2P networking.

    Also, the Office startup is a real resource hog, I'd uncheck that too.

    Do you actually use Microsoft works since it appears you have Office?
    If you aren't going to activate Microsoft Money, uncheck that too.

    The Real Network update entry can go, along with quicktime.

    Did as requested, but here are a few more questions....
    1. Didn't find Kazaa on the startup tab.
    2. What is Msmsg's. Don't know what it is-probably don't use it.
    3. MMTrayLSI, MMTray2k, MMTray. Don't know what they are-don't think I use them.
    4. Nwiz. Don't know what it is-don't think I use it.
    5. qttask. Don't know what it is-don't think I use it.
    6. NvCpl. Don't know what it is-don't think I use it.

    If I have more than one "user" do I need to complete the removals for them, too, or does it automatically remove from them, too.

    Any idea about the Yahoo Mail issue?
    Stacey

    Can you reboot, then post another scanlog. Qttask can go, Nwiz is Norton, NVcpl I believe is your video card.

    Msmgs is msn messenger, the MM stuff, I'm not sure.

    Wonder where all my security gurus are today :confused:

    Restart in safe mode

    Click here to see how

    Open My Computer. Go to Tools, Folder Options and click on the View tab. Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".

    Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

    Now find these folders and delete them.
    C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch --> folder
    C:\Program Files\Common files\updater --> folder
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking --> folder
    C:\Program Files\Kazaa --> folder
    c:\program files\altnet --> folder
