I am interested to learn differences / benefits, specific to:

    1. How often are the home pages of users using FF & O hijacked, vs the home pages of IE users?

    2. If a user of FF or O goes to a web site that could hijack IE's home page, will IE's home page be hijacked, or does one have to use IE to get into trouble?

    3. If one browses using FF or O, can the tcp/ip stack or the winsock stack become corrupt? If one uses FF or O, does one need the LPS fix tools?

    4. Do FF & O avoid hijacking because they don't read activeX, or are other mechanisms involved? If other mechanisms are involved, what are they?

    Thanks for your comments.

    1. I've never heard of any hijackers effecting ff or opera
    2. Unlikely, but vulnerabilties in IE can be exploited even if it isn't used, so best to keep it up to date
    3. Corruptions in tcpip and winsocks can happen for a lot of reasons, especially on 9x machines, although given that ff and opera offer better protection against spyware using them reduces the probabilty
    4. Its largely because of ActiveX, but also other vulnerablities exist in IE which can be exploited. Vulnerabilites exist in other browsers but writers of malware don't bother exploiting them because of their small market share.
