Well, i am not at all great at matters like this, but heres some things i think would be pretty neat if they happened..
~Getting bullet trains like Japan. Of course, they'd have to work a little differently considering how much bigger we are but.. I think it could revolutionize travel here and hopefully make it more affordable.. Because vacations are nice.
~I think we'll be just starting to really embrace other types of fuel types besides oil. I think whats taking so long is figuring out how to make so much money off that. They will be gouging us in no time.
~I think we will see China getting a LOT better off, and we will see the mistakes we have made by importing everything.
Also, i thought of this when you all started talking about space and living off the moon. lol
That's interesting because I was actually thinking of the same thing today. We hear of research that increases the chance of survival in a particular kind of cancer but I really dislike the cliché "Cure for cancer" as if there is only one kind. Unless there is some genetic cure that affects all cancers I doubt that there will ever be a magic bullet.
But in relating the visions of the visionaries like Roddenberry, I am struck by the fact that most of them envisioned a future Earth, or advanced extraterrestial world on which there was one global society. That implied that the dominant species had learned to overcome their differences and unite under common interests. Is that realistic with humans here or merely wishful thinking?
That's the sixty-four thousand dollar question Jim....Overcoming differences and uniting under common interests is against the human nature of Greed, for what ever value or power....I heard that the reason the Romans were so successful for so many years, hundreds of years, was that there was a system in place where no one would question their duty, and therefore keep those emotions at bay with jobs to do....Not a bad idea I think...

If they can prevent half of them {which is very possible}..it will be a great accomplishment.
Treatments for many now are very successful as it is...early detection being very helpful.
Perhaps free screenings with the tax dollar ?? as well
I am all for it

I'm assuming military attack. No. Not unless some rogue nation thinks an attack would be advantageous to them. America, even if weakened half a century from now, still has many allies.
Global leaders? Maybe China if they don't backslide. If oil is supplanted as the world's energy source then the oil nations will diminish. I think the nations with manufacturing power will lead the world.

But the nukes will harm us greatly Jim. reducing our numbers and destroying our land..our allies havent always been holding up to their ends of the deal,....I think the US is on borrowed time from all the butt we have whipped in the past
Hmm....I think we probably have more pressing issues than Leaders of the World....This Earth has been very lucky during our human existence....There lots of stuff in Space that avoided our planet so we've been relatively safe...We should think about that....
And in keeping with the Space thing.... We don't want no aliens from Outer Space finding us considering what Hawking has to say...
I find it funny how much you Yankees obsess about nuclear weapons! Terrified of the very Genie you yourselves let out of the bottle. Relax; nobody is going to nuke anybody.
