Vista Home Premium SP1, 32 bit

I am trying to copy C:\users\abcde\favorite\favs_from_dell_22_july_2012\_dated_items\_w7_class_nov_2011\session_4_computer_maintenance_non_malware\session_4_computer_maintenance_data_backup_02_dec_2011_w7

to F:\abcde\favorites\favs_from_Dell_22_july_2012\_dated_items\_w7_class_nov_2011\session_4_computer_maintenance_non_malware\session_4_computer_maintenance_data_backup_02_dec_2011_w7

But during the copying process, Windows informs me that the file name is too long.
when the favorite: create a system repair disk in Windows 7 - How-to Disk

See attached .jpg

I had 72 such conflicts. I manually created a list.

Is there a file [ .log or .txt perhaps ] that has this data?

I can manually reduce the file name length, but I'd prefer that WV would do that for me. Is that possible? If so, how?

Thanks.

Windows usually limits file names to 260 characters. But the file name must actually be shorter than that, since the complete path (such as C:\Program Files\filename.txt) is included in this character count. This is why you might occasionally encounter an error when copying a file with a very long file name to a location that has a longer path than its current location.
ideally you need to keep file names below 128 characters to avoid problems & maintain compatibility with older OS

Thanks for the link. I had read that; apologies for not noting everything I had read. :)

Do you refer to the event viewer? I found no errors reported during the 24 hrs before and 8 hrs after I copied files to my flash drive in the event viewer.

Perhaps the event viewer is not the correct place to look for the windows error log entries.
