Lots of my music is in the form of "mixed CDs" where I have burned compilation Cd's of my favorite songs. I want to rip all these CD's onto my new laptop, but when media player can't find the album online it defaults to the "Unknown Album" and "Track 01", etc naming scheme. I need to be able to at least name the albums when I burn them.
I would actually like to name the songs after what album mix its on. For instance I would name a burned compilation album that I'm going to rip as "Summer 05" and then all the tracks in that album Could be called "01-Summer07" or something like that. That would be brilliant. How can I get something like that from media player?

You an do this in Explorer after the album is ripped.
Rename the Album folder, then open the folder, select all, Rename a single file (01-Summer07.mp3) and subsequent files will be 01-Summer07 (1) etc.
Use the appropriate extension, of course.

Go to the WMP options and make sure the following are checked:

    Privacy tab:
'Display media information from the internet'
'Update music files by retrieving media info from the internet'

    Library tab:
'Retrieve additional information from the internet' > 'Only add missing information'

These are for WMP 10, if you have 11 they might be a little different.

Thanks for the replys. Naming newly ripped albums and tracks is much more user friendly here. In fact, Hughv, you can do exactly what you said, but not only it can be done directly from the albums list in WMP11, its also quite intuitive in 11.
