I want to be able to share various folders includiing My Documents and the folders within My Documents. When I right click on the folder to open the properties box and then open the sharing tab so I can go ahead and select the options to share, the checkboxes and the text next them appear as shown here in this screenshot, grayed out like this and not allowing me to place a checkmark in any of them. (The grayed out checkmark appears as shown also, where it says "make this folder private.") So I can't check or uncheck any of these boxes in order to share these folders.
Its Windows XP. I'm logged in with an administrator user account.
What's the deal, how come these checkboxes are like this which doesn't allow me to put checkmarks in them to share the folder(s)?

XP Home and XP Pro with Simple File Sharing prevents network sharing of several folders; My Documents is one such folder.

If you have XP Pro you can use Advanced File Sharing and share whatever you like.
