file transfer

    hi everyone.

    was just wondering if anyone could help.

    i did a back up of all files on my dell vostro 1510 onto an external hard drive about a week before it fell on the floor and is completely broken! i need to know if and how i can transfer these files which are all photos of my kids and i tunes library amongst other things onto my new samsung laptop.
    old laptop had windows vista new one has windows 7. i only really care about the photos mainly and the music and just wondered if i could get these off of the hard drive?? i can seeall of the zipped files when i plug the hard drive into my new laptop but dont wanna mess up my new laptop so dont know what to do!!

    You mean the laptop is broken not the external Hard drive??

    If so just right click on the file and choose Copy..go to say My documents and Right click an empty place and choose paste
