 Help ! When I delete a doc or file, it does not appear in my recycling bin. There is nothing unusual about the bin properties and I have not selected 'remove files immediately when deleted'. Can anyone suggest a fix?

How much space do you allot for recycle bin? You have to allot an amount of space for recycle bin on the hard drive, much like with a page file. If you right click on recycle bin and go to properties, it will tell you what %, and if you click on the tabs for each drive individually, It will tell you what numerical value.

If the files you are deleting are bigger than the amount of RB space left empty on the drive, the system prompts you to delete them altogether and then does so if you choose yes.

This can happen when your bin is full.
It's capacity is standard 10 % of HDD.

It comes down to the question of did it prompt you to delete the files permanantly when you deleted them. If not, then something strange is going on.

Also, I should have thought of it, but do you run a cleaning utility frequently? Many of them such as ccleaner empty the recycle bin.
