    I has me a fill C O L O R question:

    I have a spreadsheet that I want to modify to mirror another in appearance - so that the monkeys (formerly known as USERS) are familiar with the layout and colors, but it just does different things.

    Copying over some cells and their formats brings different colors.
    Checking them with the fill color button brings up a different collor pallet.

    Could these have been created on different versions of EXCEL ?
    I am open to enlightenment on the subject.

    Err, possibly? MSKB stuff says that in versions 5 & 7, the palette is arranged by colour index. Beyond that, it's arranged "chromatically".

    Not sure how what you have affects what you're after. You should still be able to determine colour values using code tho' if that's any help.

    eg:
    ActiveCell.Value = ActiveCell.Offset(0, -1).Interior.ColorIndex
