i know the title sounds a bit misleading but after knowing the problem ull say it's ok.

i have static internet connection via a local cable company. i don't even have a live IP. my bandwith's upperlimit per connection is limited by the router.

i use flashget like downloaders to split a download file and decrease download time.

some sites offering mp3's for downloads, strait away open the download boxes and no link is shown anywhere.

neither in the document source nor in the url. can i somehow get the actual URL of the file being downloaded, from that dialog box or the parent window.

example a hindi song name "Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo" on this site can't be directly downloaded with flashget.
    http://www.geocities.com/dhmshah/Music/dum.htm

the wayaround i have found is that i have made a Pipe Proxy in vb which shows every bit of passing data. the process is tooooo clumsy and fails frequently. and also i can only browse in one window of INTERNET EXPLORER at that time.

Does anyone know a better option??

    My current miserable position is:
1: Im using "MS Internet Explorer 5.02" and stuck with "Netscape7"
    2: Unfortunatly Running Windows 2000 Advance Server + SP3
3: Programming based suggessions in vb are welcomed, but direct solutions will be "'maney jan gey'" (it also means welcomed).
4: I have a Linux server running, maybe it can come in handy. (I have limited physical access but complete remote access to it.)
5: Sick of downloading those huge mp3s.

Help Me. Gulp. HElp Gulp Helppppp. gulp.

normally, when you hover over a link, you can see the url in the status window.

That site has done it's utmost to hide links by runnning a status bar blocking script

if you view source you can see the url's of all the songs, however they are in a table so you have to look at song title in 1st list and in second list further down page where it says
    http://multimedia.indiafm.com/hide6/02/dumxxxx.rm

count the numbers of songs and compare with song name in first list

    then remember url

It's a fair way to prevent unnecessary piracy, but doesn't work very well

Some webmasters use Javascript to mask the actual URL in the address bar, tooltop and the status bar. This might be what is going on.

Are you any good at HTML? If so you might be able to see the whole link by viewing the source code (Right click anywhere on the page and select "View Source"). If not, please post back with exactly what you need and I'll try and get it for you.

    cassamine,

When you get to the download page on Cool Goose, cancel the download and right-click the link the says ...please click here. and select properties.

This will bring up a window showing the URL to the file (see attachment) which you can copy and paste.

As i mestioned earlier, my problem is not example specific. okok i didn't mention. i forgot. so waht we all make mistakes. see what i ment, i just made a spelling mistake and i don't even know about.

So RATBOY what if the click here was not provided
    or
the webmaster could have opened a new window, started a download and closed it, while setting the meta cache property of the page to false so it would not even get stored in history.

i need a direct solution of the following nature, see if anybody can help:
1: either there should be a program to show what files and pages are being downloaded by the browser. (No such thing found on net)
    OR
an application which could show me the data being transfered by capturing packet (Win32 based).

2: or some way to show/extract the extract path of the file being downloaded in the dialog box itself.

3: or a browser/download_agent which follows links like IE, supports Javascript and URL redirection by host.

If any such tools could be found please tell me.

And as asked eairlier i can handle HTML and also JavaScript, VBScript, but still a direct solution is prefered.

so if anybody can give a programming based idea or solution in VB, C/C++, VC++ I love you.

I'll love you anyway if you try.
