I am trying to find a replacement battery for My Sony Vaio VGN-FZ 180N. I have found quite a few on ebay as seen in the below link.

    http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=Sony+VAIO+VGN-FZ180E/B+&_trksid=p5197.c0.m627

However, they are all saying that the battery will not work if the computer is running windows 7. I am definitely wanting upgrade from Vista to W7. It's quite funny that each post on ebay has simple grammatical errors and all of their replies to my questions were the same.

    What about this Battery: http://www.buy.com/prod/battery-for...-vgn-fz18-vgn-fz180e/q/loc/101/219129390.html

Can someone tell me if this is not going to work or there is a battery that will work with this Sony and W7. Thanks.

The linked seller provides software on a CD to work around this problem with 7, many others will too.

What Linked seller are you referring to. Everyone that sells this battery on ebay wrote back to me and said it won't work if I upgrade to Windows 7. Here is buy.com selling this battery. http://www.amazon.com/Laptop-Battery-SONY-VAIO-VGN-FZ/dp/B003XX6M3A

The problem is the reviews are bad and one review said it also does not work on W7. Can I buy an original battery from Sony. Appreciate the help.

From what I read it seems like there is a way to make this work with a non-sony battery. Do you agree on this. If so, I will take a chance and buy the battery on ebay or amazon. Do you think it matters whether I get the new battery working while Laptop still has Vista or go ahead and upgrade to W7 before putting in the new battery. I am thinking of doing the battery with Vista and then upgrading to W7. Thanks for your input.

    Sorry I didn't reply earlier.

There's no way to guarantee a particular battery will work but I bought a non-Sony one for a Vaio recently and it works ok in 7 Ultimate 32bit without needing any special software.

Have you bought the battery yet ? If yes does it work ok in 7 ?
