    Hi,

I've been using Firefox for years now but in the last month or so it's began crashing around 10 times per day.
The crashes usually happen when I click the "Bookmark" tab, Firefox will freeze and then the "Not responding" appears at the top of the window, it happens about 70% of the time i click Bookmarks.
This also happens EVERY time I try and clear my "Browsing and Download History" - so essentially i'm no longer able to wipe history anymore. I am however still able to clear the cache, cookies and search history etc.

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling firefox. I tried running my CCleaner to clear the registry and that. I've run Malwarebytes and AVG in case there's something else causing this. Nothing works.

Any ideas? I'm not exactly proficient is computers by any means so please try keep it as simple as possible
    Thanks.

Have you tried disabling your Firefox add-ons?

Yeah i've tried disabling add-ons. I've tried cleaning registry using CCleaner. Ran Malwarebytes. Ran AVG. I've deleted my search & form history, cache, cookies, active logins, site preferences.

I just can no longer delete Browsing and Download history. I click "Clear Now" and the small box goes black.. a few seconds later the whole Firefox window goes to "Not responding"
Also when I click on Bookmarks it's a 50/50 whether Firefox will crash again. Usually when it does crash the window will become obscured, often showing something like a still from a youtube video I might've been watching earlier that day. (Vista)

    No not 64, I'm almost certain it's 32bit.

Right thanks for the replies. I *think* I fixed it, albeit inadvertently.

I ticked the "clear history when Firefox closes" Afterwards Firefox wouldn't even load, couldn't get the page up. Uninstalled Firefox, deleted old bookmarks & search forms etc when uninstalling and now it seems fine.

Still don't know the cause or if it's properly fixed but it'll do for now. Otherwise i'll give chrome a lash.
