Firefox has been fine for awhile, but ever since I uninstalled AdBlock (so i could install adblock plus) ive been having extensions problems. I can't load extensions manager (tools>extensions), and I dont see any new extensions I installed. What gives?
    (latest version firefox)

I would uninstall and rename the Firefox directory in your "Documents and Settings"-->"Application Data".

Reinstall and install one extension at a time. Test each time you install one.

I'd do that too :D unfortunately I'm looking for a less destructive method where I won't have to uninstall anything (i have to go thru a large list of themes/extensions and backup/restore bookmarks and tweak again and it would be annoying)

Un-install the new version of Adblock, type 'about:config' in address bar then 'adblock' in the filter bar and for every line that relates to the adblock extension in bold text, right click and 'reset'.

Or, close Firefox and open the User.js file in your profile folder and delete all lines relating to adblock.

That should clear any unwanted preferences that may be affecting the new version of Adblock. Re-install Adblock and see if it works!

Can't uninstall any extension (cant access extension manager), but i can change stuff in about:config.
    -------
update: resetting stuff in about:config did not do anything.

Try installing Mr Tech's Local Install extension. This gives you a lot more control over your extensions.

If after you've installed this you still can't access the EM, then I'd suggest your profile is knackered and create another.

It's not letting me install grr. Once I click accept to install it just stops and it doesn't install, same for other extensions.

Right click on the install link and save the extension to a folder on your PC somewhere. Open the folder where you saved it on top of the Firefox window and drag the .xpi and drop into the Firefox window. That should open the EM for installation.

OK, your profile or extension manager (or both) have been corrupted. It's happened to me a few times (I always use the branch and trunk nightly/hourly builds) but I'm well prepared for the worst.

Forgot to ask what version you were using, no matter, try installing Firefox again over the top of your current version, use either the same build or a more recent one. It won't damage any of your data files but you may just overwrite the problem.

The link I gave you earlier to Mr Tech's Local Install extension will solve your extension problem. After close/reopen Firefox, open the Extension Manager and you will find a command - 'Make Extensions Compatible' and it does! It makes the extensions ignore the max version set by the authors. You'll find many other goodies too.

*Tip - In the Local Install extension there is a 'File' command to restart Firefox which when clicked will close and automatically reopen Firefox - very handy!

This is a great extension which allows you lot's more control over your themes and extensions. It will give you lots of buttons for your toolbar shortcuts too.
