    Hey everyone,

    Recently I downloaded and installed Firefox 7.01. It installed fine. Then when browsing it kept on freezing up completely forcing me to CTRL+ALT+DEL it and end the task. It was origionally only when editing my blog using the blogger website and then it started to happen more on other websites such as youtube and hotmail. Anyway I gave up with the browser and thought that it must have been the update so I uninstalled 7.01 and installed 7.00 which was originally fine. But now it also seems to have the problem. Any idea what may be causing this as it is very annoying.

    Thanks in advance, Jack-O-Bytes

    Try disabling addons. That usually fixes it.

    OK I have disabled all of them apart from the avast add-on and the WOT website rating add-on which shows safety ratings of websites. I will see how it goes from here and report back.

    Thanks for the input :)

    OK it just crashed again this time just browsing the hardware section of this website. I have removed the rest of the add-ons apart from the avast one which I can't remove I can only disable. I decided to leave this one running as it has never caused problems before and it is an anti-virus program.

    The avast addon seemed to work OK on my computer. I'm running Windows 7 and the latest Firefox (7.0.1). Let me know if disabling other addons worked.

    here is a little more info. Every now and then a box pops up with no title and 2 black buttons if I click the x in the corner often Firefox will continue working but I have no idea what I am clicking x to.

    Are you finding other programs are freezing too? This might seem obvious but check to make sure Adobe Flash is updated, and check to see if other programs are using a lot of CPU by using Control + Alt + Delete.

    Hey, No other programs seem to have this problem so I don't think it is anything to do with anything other than Firefox. In fact I used chrome as a way round the freezing so I could work on my blog properly. I will download the newest flash player and see how things go.

    Thanks, Jack

    OK so I have updated flash player but only the Internet Explorer one as the Non-IE one was already fully up to date. I have also updated the following programs as well;

    Adobe Air
    Foxit Reader
    Java

    I will run the computer for a while and see if it freezes again.

    Thanks, Jack

    Try this: Open Firefox, click on Help, and select Restart with addons disabled.. -- Click restart then check "disable all addons" then click Continue in safemode. If that fixes it, there is an addon slowing it down.

    OK quick update, Firefox is running without any add-ons now. All programs are up to date and it still freezes occasionally. I have used Google chrome for a while and that hasn't frozen yet.
