I have two differant firewalls. Sygate on the desktop and ZoneAlarm on the laptop. The problem with using the firewalls is that I can't seem to find the settings so that the laptop can use the printers connected to the desktop. It will work when the firewalls are off on both systems. How do I get the firewalls set correctly? I Know the ip addresses of each system.

It could be that your Sygate does not support ICS as I know the free version of Zone Alarm does not. You can, however, use the free ZA on the client/laptop. You did not mention which versions of the firewalls you are using.

I assume you have put the IPs of both machines in each other's trusted zone? The problem is probably not getting out of the laptop, but rather into your desktop. If the Sygate does not support ICS, a router should work for you. I hope this helps.
