My computer is hookup to a Linksys WRT54G router. Do I need to use a firewall like Zonealarm for protection or the firewall from the router is good enough?

Yes you need a software firewall also.

Go here and run the ShieldsUP!! test. You want a perfect "TruStealth" rating so you need to Stealth on all ports.

If the router uses NAT addressing, then you should get a full stealth rating without a software firewall, but thats not the issue.

The router with NAT will only stop incoming nasties, if they are invited in or already existing, it will not prevent outgoing traffic. A software firewall will alert you to this happening however.
