Dear all, I have had some difficulties installing the maxtor3 external drive to my system which has oddly prevented me from using my net connection? The maxtor works fine with the firewire but I cannot use my adsl modem which uses a USB port? can anyone inform why this might be and if their are any known conflicts. I am told that the firewire port is integrated with my motherboard and there are known conflicts with the USB drive?

can anyone shed any light for me.

Look in your device manager to see if there are any obvious hardware conflicts or drivers that are not installed. If your DSL has the option to use Ethernet configure it for that and save yourself future problems aside from this one.
