    Dear Users,
    Netgear WGR614 v7
Please advise on why I can't update the firmware. Every time I get the message that the upgrade has failed.

    Arturo

What firmware version are you trying to load ? Seems that there are a couple of versions for the v7 router.
    What operating system ?
Does the error message give you any specific error code ?
You are updating using the hardwired connection and not the wireless connection ,correct ?

Ok.Did you try the .29 or .23 version ?Or is that what you presently have ?.
You also might try posting up your issue to Netgear Support .I did not see any issues with this firmware version posted there, but you could ask.

On the update bit on your router do you have a option to "browse" your computer for a firmware update file? if so you can download it from another source online and upload it to the router manually.

Yes I can try the browsing option but once initiated it finds nothing---it seams it doesn't really get online to obtain the upgrade even though the internet is fine.
    Quite frustrating

It doesn't get the firmware update online. It gets it from the file you downloaded to your computer. You do have the file saved to your hard drive, right?

Ok Just as a test I downloaded the North American version of this driver/firmware.
wgr614v7_2_0_23_1_0_23_na.chk is the file name and it is 937kb/940kb in size
Do a search and see if you have anything like that on your system.
