Hiya, this is my first time applying thermal compound to a CPU. I can do that just fine, but, my question is. Do i leave the compound to dry before putting the heatsink/cooler on or do i put it on straight away.

You can attach the heat sink right away - thermal paste shouldn't really "dry" over time.

Just remember to only use a very small amount - it should form a very thin layer between the two metal surfaces. Metal-to-metal contact conducts heat the best; the paste is mainly there to fill in imperfections in both surfaces.
