    Hi guys,

Is there a way to repair an mbr or fix other boot issues on an externally mounted hard drive? I have a drive that will not boot into normal/safe/repair mode and I externally mounted it to my own computer to scan for viruses. Any suggestions on how to fix this from here, and if not, from within a boot cd?

Does the disc simply allow command prompt repairs or does it have to be made from the same operating system as the bad drive?

It's the same as doing a Repair Install from the Recovery DVDs.
Many OEM recovery DVDs can't perform a repair install .. (Wipe and rebuild only)
It has to be made from the Same 64 <> 32 bit version.
I have one made from my W7 computer .. And have used it on others that had problems booting.

I don't understand why one can't download one of these from M$ ????
