When using Internet Explorer (6.0.2800), I frequently get an error message which says "iexplore has performed an illegal operation" and then the IE window closes. The details show a message "invalid instruction in module flash9b.ocx". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the flash player but the problem persists.
The problem started (I think) when a new version of the flash player was installed. This was done automatically following a message to say that a newer version was available and I clicked the download button. I am using Windows 98.
I think it has something to do with the settings in IE6 or Windows 98.
    Please advise
    Thanks

Not sure if this is relevant or not but is the new flash player compatible with Win98?

The problem does not occur every time that a banner is displayed by Flash Player but only with some banners. I assume thus that the version is compatible with Windows 98.
