Hi there.

My friend has a problem with Windows XP.

He's just rebuilt his computer, but he doesn't like Windows 7 (and hates 8) so he's decided to stay with Windows XP.

He's trying to install Flash Player, but keeps getting error messages like this one: src www.monochromebitch.com

Specs: Windows XP SP3, IE 8, all updates applied (as far as I can tell, the Windows Update control panel in XP isn't great.)

He's got Norton Internet Security, but he's tried it with that disabled and the same error happens.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Your friend could try working through the advice in the Adobe Troubleshooter, particularly the section under Download issues headed 'Progress bar hangs during download...';http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html

That provides links for the .exe versions of the plugins required for IE and the non Active X browsers. It wouldn't hurt to run the special Adobe uninstaller as well before attempting a new installation of the plugins.
