    ** ** = Omit

Hi so I acquired a fake GPU a while ago and am now getting around to fixing it, I already have a USB-EPP/I2C...CH341A. It is identifying as a GTX 1050 TI but is actually a GTX 550 TI (GF116-400-A1). I am sure simply flashing any of the available vbios for this card would make it functional, but I think I have a unique model and would like to further identify it.

I am by know means a computer expert and have never done anything relatable to this. **In the pictures below you will notice my card has 6 vram modules (idk if thats what they're called) instead of the usual 4, my understanding is that each of those represent 256mb of vram each.** I have been looking at the different GTX 550 TI vbios available at...

... after noticing this had 2 extra vram modules I checked here to see if there were any models with 1536MB's of vram. There are 2 on here...

... the first one would be fine as its still GDDR5, but the second one is DDR3 and has a much smaller memory clock than the rest of the GTX 550 TI's available. I'm fairly certain I have the latter but I don't know how to go about diagnosing this card. I intended to just grab a normal (closest to stock) vbios rom and install that via the usb programmer, but this complicates things...

If anybody has any experience fixing these fake cards or simply knows how to properly identify this GPU I would be much appreciative. This is a project for me I do not intend to keep this graphics card in my main computer, I will however use this in one of my less substantial builds as I have a few projects that could utilize less than this card has to offer.

I have also included pictures of the gpu cooler, I would like to replace it but this seems to be the only viable option available to me. (short of water cooling, which I'm not with this card)

If I were to install this it would cover my third pcie slot as well as my second, which are both in use. I already have a pcie extender on my second slot but the cards I'm using wouldn't allow me to do that with the third.
If anyone knows where I could get a better air cooler (I don't need the ridiculous back plate) would help a lot.

So I'm an idiot I was comparing the card to the first card shown in a video guide I was following which wasnt the GTX 550 Ti, I still would like to best identify this card before flashing it. I still want to replace the cooler as well.

There are numerous configurations of such Fake cards
The fact that the graphics chip appears to be
GF116 graphics processor, in its GF116-400-A1 variant

is about as reliable as guessing what other markings relate to
As that GPU marking presumes that it is a genuine Nvidia chip
which is certainly not a reliable presumption.

No really meaningful assistance can be provided as indeed is highlighted in some detail here

Your post is unclear to me, as to whether you bought it/acquired it and knew it was a fake
    or thought it genuine

    I doubt if
that will prove to be correct.

However IMHO we are unable to provide assistance on a matter of this nature.
Whether or not that is the case, is a decision for one of the site Administrators or Moderators
