In June I installed a Logitech M310 mouse. Since then, the cursor "floats" around on its own, making use very frustrating. How to fix???

This new thread appears to be a repeat of THIS July 1, 2018 thread.

The Acer Aspire 5253 laptop was introduced about 7-1/2 years ago and came with Windows 7 64-bit.

How long ago was Windows 10 64-bit installed in yours, and did the mouse issue occur afterwards?

If you don't disable the touchpad then the cursor will move on its own any time you touch the touchpad with your wrist while typing. (I had this happen in a Micron laptop from 2000).
    Have you disabled the touchpad?
