Not sure if this is the right forum.....but:
Have just rearranged the drives and stuff inside the puter case.
Now when I boot up, the green light for the floppy drive is lit, and when I insert a disc and click on the A drive it says "please insert a disc".
I thought I had put all the ribbons back the right way round.
My socket on the mobo is horizontal, and ribbon is plugged in using the 'key way' notch to locate, making the red edge to ribbon on the r/h side viewing from front.
The tother end of ribbon (one with some separated and twisted wires in it) is plugged into floppy drive with red edge next to power plug. Far as I know that is the right way to connect ??
What the heck have I stuffed up ??....:)

The constantly lit floppy indicates a reversed cable.

It will not damage the device, just reverse the ribbon cable.

    Cheers kiwiguy...........that fixed it.........:)
Always thought that the red edge on ribbon was supposed to be next to the power plug.
    Still.................no 'working' light any more.
    Cheers.
