I just installed a floppy drive in my computer (windows XP). The drive will not show up under My Computer. I went to disk management and it does not show up there either. When i open the device manager it shows up as standard floppy controller and says this device is working properly? I am stumped.

Check the power and the direction of the cable as well check your bios to ensure the floppy is enabled. You should also see a Floppy drive and not just a floppy controller in the device manager.

The power and direction are correct but i didn't think about going into the Bios. I'll give that a shot. Thanks.

Hi,

Flip the ribbon cable over and try it the other way. These cables are different than the hard drive cables in most instances. The red stripe goes toward the power plug on the drive or away from you as you look in the side of the case.
