floppy drive

Mine doesnt work for some reason, no matter what i do, it always tells me id address not accesibile. i checked it under system properties, and it says its there, i tried formatted, oun formatted, different programs, etc...it will not work, only the green light comes on...its like it cant read any disks for some reason....windows xp by the way.

The message "id address not accesibile", could you possibly confirm that (please try to get the exact spelling if possible, as that error seems incorrect.

If it was IDE address not acceesible it means something quite different to ID address, as an example.

The advice above re drivers would apply to the motherboard chipset drivers, there are no drivers for floppy drives.

Laptop or desktop PC?
If desktop are all cables in securely at the rear of the drive and on the motherborad?
Floppy drives do die, and if it's a desktop PC, the cost is very lop so a replacement drive could be worth a try.

If it's a laptop it's rather different however.

Good Evening all, I haven't seen that kind of error before, would there be any chance the BIOS might need checking. Maybe it has changed.
I agree the cost is very lop.
