I have a Compacq Notebook. The floppy drive does not recognize any of my prviously saved disks. It asks me if I want to format it. When I do, and save to it, it can read it fine. Why cant it read prviously saved files?

    Hi pgmtg, welcome to TSG.

Where did you have these floppies stored? Some place safe, like a desk drawer perhaps?

Had a simular problem with the old office PS-2 computers. My computer would not read them. I changed my defective drive (I thought) out and the new one wouldn't read them either. I could format a floppy on my computer and take it to the office and transfer files to it then and read them at the house.
