floppy not working

    i keep getting error message when i bootup floppy disk fail (40)
    also my floppy drive is not working

    If the drive was working ok before then try reseating the cables (power and ribbon) going to the floppy drive. If that doesn't work try a different floppy drive.

    Also try going into the BIOS and going to the CMOS setup page, make sure A Drive is set as 1.44mb 3 1/2 "

    it the green light on the front stays on most likely the cables round the wrong way. If nobody has touched it it may be toast. The ones that are specific to the brand of computer eg: the front part is the front panel of the PC Ive replace one of those with a normal on fitting it in a spare HDD bay sure you have to open the box to use it and thats just about never nowdays
