Hi, for some reason all of a sudden my floppy drive wants to run. There is no disk in it. The green light will come on and I can hear it running for a few seconds, it slows my computer down during that time. It has been happening anywhere between every 30 sec. to 2 min. Is there any way I can make it quit?

Probably not a "hardware" issue, but check your "startups" by running msconfig and see if you have Find Fast installed, a Microsoft Indexer that comes with its Office programs. It is also known as mosearch.exe in the XP version of Office

It may also be disabled through the Control Panel.

Clearing the Documents menu can also help in some cases

I found findfast and it was unchecked so I checked it and restarted. Seems to be fine now, Thanks!

That sounds really odd, the idea is to keep it UN checked...

Anyway if the problem returns, do a ctrl-alt-del and see what is in the End-Task window; if Find Fast is there, then it is most likely the cause.

Hmmm, I don't know, but the whole time I have been on my computer since then it hasn't done it again.
