format c: - upload XP

    I want to format the c drive to do a clean install of XP, but I am cautious about this, because there are programs on it I want to keep.
    1. If I later try and partition my d: so linux can run on one half will it be effected by instaling XP (my friend says to unhoook the d:
    2. I have a e: which is a system restore type hard drive will it be erased when I format my c:
    3. How do I ghost some of the prgrams to later reinstall back onto the c:

    If you do a clean install you will have to reinstall all your programs from scratch. Ghosting isn't going to help you there. The whole point of ghosting is too setup a base installation that you like and can revert back to whenever you need that clean install feel again.
