What format does one need to convert a file formatted as a .wav to play in the car or on a cd player?

If they are .wav, they are already in the format they need to be. But you need to use a burning app that will create an audio CD in the proper format (they will actually be .cda on the disk). Use Infra Recorder. It is a simple burner that has audio CD as one of its startup options.

I could like to burn CD for car by my regular dvd burner software, and it seemed not such a bad idea.
