format

    Ok I have two hard drives.My main hard drive has windows and all my files on it.It's been acting up latly so I want to format it.My second hard drive has nothing on it.To format my hard drive,could I just move my essential files to my blank hd even if it dosnt have windows?

    Yes, you can move files along as the drive is recognized in windows.
    You CANNOT move programs or the operating system. Move any files you want to keep, boot with a boot floppy, at the a prompt type format c: You will lose everything on C. Reinstall the os.

    You can as long as you have it formated
    for windows. in explorer do you have a
    d drive?

    You need to fdisk and format. You can make that drive one large Extended Dos Partition and then divide it into one or more logical partitions. Reboot. Format. It will be ready to hold Data.
