My camera (Sony CD1000) uses CD-R 156MB discs.
I purchased new blank Memorex discs and the camera can not INITIALIZE them. When I insert an older disc with pictures in it, XP tells me that the File system of the disc is UDF.
What third party burning CD software could I use to format a CD-R disc as UDF?

What burning program do you use? If Nero, InCD can be installed and will format to UDF. Does your camera manual or any information apps you have tell you what version of UDF is needed (they differ significantly)?

Try Nero Infotool for disk and device information.

Thank you for your response. I used Nero info and I got the following:
    General:
    Type: Data CD (Mode 2)
    Capacity: 14:19.43
    Extended Info
    Tracks: 4
    Supported Speed: 8X
    Blank capacity: 16:48.31
    Manufacturer ID: TDK (97m 49s 00f)
    Disc Status: Open, not finalized
    Content
    File System: ISO 9660, UDF
    Title: UFREADER
    Date: Nov. 6, 2007
    Publisher: n/a
Application: CDUDF File system Roxio, INC

I have Nero 8 Ultra Version, but it does not have InCD.
Do you have any further suggestions?
    Thanks
    Louis

If you have Nero 8 already, you can go to nero.com and download the most recent version. make sure you copy your serial numbers for reference just in case.

Install the new version. Use the custom installation options to also install InCD. It is really a completely separate program from Nero's burning app, and it reads-writes-formats in the UDF file system so that a CD can be used, more or less, like an ordinary drive, with immediate reading and writing to CD.

If you prefer, and you still have the original installer for Nero, you can simply run that and add InCD. But you need the full version of Nero, and not one of its "reduced" versions that come with some PC's, like "Nero Essentials".

Thanks for your help. I followed your suggestions and I was able to format my Memorex disks. In addition I purchased the SONY recommended disks also.
Unfortunaley, my camera does not accept either.
I believe that my MVC CD-1000 is damaged and may not be repairable for a reasonable fee.
Thank you very much for your help, again.
