formatting dvd/rw

    i haven't been able to format a dvd/rw disc on either my laptop, or pc. so i got into commmand prompt and changed the file to D: and entered 'D:/ fs:ntfs'. i got the message ntfs file system is not supported. suggestions?

    It's not supported. DVD disks do not use the NTFS file system. You also can't format a DVD-RW disk on Windows XP. You have to erase it using a 3rd party DVD burning application.
