Formatting SATA2 HDD

    I have bot a new computer with a SATA2 HDD and it is with installedn linux OS. When i boot up with a Windows XP SP2 cd and press Enter when i see the first screen where it says "Press Enter to set up windows XP now " , on the next screen says that there is no HDD attached or that it cannot be find.

    I have formated a computer before but it wosn`t with SATA HDD is that the problem here because the linux is working but i want to work with windows instead.
    Sorry about mu english :) i still need practise .

    Welcome to TSG....

    Once a computers hard drive is formatted with Linux anything you try to do with Windows will not work. What has to be done is fdisk the hard drive and remove the Linux partitions and format using the ms-dos or windows format. This is a real pain in the rump the first time you do it and I have no instructions on how to do it that are written down.

    So you are sayng that i should boot up from floppy and format the HDD like that ?
