    Hi All,

I just joined. I recently started looking around in my c drive looking to see what I can get rid of. Like old software downloads and so on.

I am still an AOL user. I just haven't been able to break away. LOL

I found 3 "AOL Save PFC Folders" on my computer. One in My Documents and 2 located just under my c drive. They equal around 391MB. Do you know why I would have 3 folders? It looks like each were created in 05, 07 and 09. Can I combined them? Also, do you know what the folder is for? AOL's help website is not helpful to me at all regarding this issue.

Each time you reinstall or upgrade AOL to a new version it saves the user's data (preferences, mailboxes and other data) into a folder called PFC (Personal Filing Cabinet).

User data for the version you are using is found in C:\Program Data\AOL\(current aol version number)\organize folder.

If you are happy with the way your production version of AOL is running, you can delete those PFC files.

Google for "PFC AOL" and look at information in some of the links.

[Edited....Sorry, I was typing and submitted my post and could not see that anyone had replied.....the thread was not replied to when I started typing!)

They are the leftovers from UNinstalled versions of AOL.

They could be from any version you have used and uninstalled.

When you run an AOL CD, you are actually installing a NEW copy and they do not overwrite the previous one...they add a whole new separate and usable copy.

AOL 9.0, 9.0A 9.0B and so on.......that would be found if they were still INstalled....

When you UNinstall a copy of AOL, any version....you are prompted "Do you wish to save the Personal Filing Cabinet?" and if you choose "Yes" you get that folder showing on your Desktop.

Depending on what versions the PFC's are from and if you determine you would like to keep some of the stuff in any, you can try the methods at those links I posted and see if it works.

After you are able to work and see what is in the PFC's you may find that you simply do not need the data....

You are going to have to research whether you can merge all the PFC's- there should be help for that right in AOL Help, where you look through an index of subjects like Email....see if a search with AOL Help for "Personal Filing Cabinet" gives you anything....

    Good Luck!
