    Hi,

When I downloaded Libre Office it overwhelmed all my previous word-processor files. Unfortunatly I found Libreoffice too unsuitable, so I downloaded SoftMaker Free Office2018 but, this did not overwhelm the Libre files.

I am now at a loss on how to convert all my existing Libre files to FreeOffice format.

Can anybody help please? ......thanx .........nick

LibreOffice 6.2 is very good software and it is very capable. How is it "unsuitable" ?

What does "...overwhelmed all my previous word-processor files" mean ?
If you install an application it may re-associate data files to that application.
However using the Default Programs Control Panel applet, individual file types and/or application file associations can be reassigned.

    I agree with David.
I updated LibreOffice in my Windows 7/10 computers today to version 6.2.1.2

    Thank you,

Sorry I should have said "assiciated" all my files with its own format.

Libre is very a comprehensive program but not suitable for me, it takes ages to open/start & I prefer the "Free Office",
which I found it less complicated.

Can you please explain about the "Default Programs Control Panel applet" & how to associate my files with Free Office?

I googled it But it shows so many applications of it, is confusing for a newbee like me. ......thanx ....nick
EDIT:- Just noticed that in Libre properties the "Open with" lets you open each file in other formats of processors you may have installed. Do it to one file & all Libre files in the HD change to Free Office

What OS are you using ? Windows 10 ?

Go to Control Panel. You will find a Default Programs applet.

Once there you can set associations such as DOC and DOCx to a Word Processor of choice.

Software Free Office seems pretty insistent on an email address before the download will begin.

I get enough spam, I'll pass.

    Nichos,

I've edited your post no. 4 as you had inserted your text at the bottom beginning with "EDIT:" into flavallee's quote making it look like he said that and there was no response to it from you. Be careful when using quotes, you have to make sure you are replying outside of the quoted text.
