Can you recommend a free program for scanning documents so that they can be edited afterwards.
    Happy holidays everyone

You Got Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 ..
See Office Tools >> Microsoft Document Scanning.

If you have Office 2010 .. It's been moved to One Note.
This will OCR to a Word Document.

If you have an Image .. Convert it to a tif .. Then M$ Document Imaging can read the tif image

I'm not sure if Office 2000 has OCR capabilities.
I usually scan at 600DPI .. Use Photoshop to clean it up .. And save to a tif file ..
Then use office 2003 to read the tif file.
    It's been a while since I looked at Irfanview's OCR plugin .. I didn't like it.
It all depends on the Quality of the scan or Image.
