Freecom Classic HD 160GB

I was using my external hd this morning perfectly fine but once i come back to the computer later on its stopped working! When i plug it in the blue light on the front flashes & windows can see the drive but it says drivers are not installed & then 30 seconds later it says there's a fault with the drive. I've tried changing the settings in the device manager but still no luck. It doesn't sound like the fans working on the drive, could that be the fault? If not then what could it be?

I'd be grateful of any help please as this drive has lots of very important work documents on & i need them back

Thanks very much :)

If that is the case It does not look good :(
I would take it to a data recovery specialist if the info on the disk is very important to you.

Usually when you get that problem it means that the controller in the cabinet is popped. Take the enclosure apart, take the harddrive out, mount it in your computer and take the data off it.
