My mouse is frozen on my PC (Windows XP) (I am using my lap top to do this).after installing Powersuite as my PC is very slow at times (9yrs old) when up grading on drivers I invertantly pressed 'continue anyway' on a pop-up that advised not to install something (software?). I've rebooted a few times but the cursor is static.

From Safe Mode (F8 right after PC starts and before Windows logo) uninstall whatever you installed, or perform System Restore. You may want to backup any valuable data first.

    ladymead,

While the computer is turning on, tap F8 repeatedly until a black screen with white text appears. Using your arrow keys highlight the option Safe Mode With Networking and hit Enter.

    Click Start.

Click Run and type appwiz.cpl and hit Enter.

    Uninstall Powersuite.

Then try booting into Windows normally and see if your mouse works properly.

    --------------------------------------

Assuming it does, let's see the following:

    Click Start.

In the search bar, type MSCONFIG and hit Enter. Click the "Startup" tab.

Write down only the names in the "Startup Item" column that have a checkmark next to them.

If the "Startup Item" column isn't wide enough to see the entire name of any of them, widen the column.

Submit those names here in a vertical list.

Make sure to spell them EXACTLY as you see them there.
