Frozen Screen 2nd Gen iPad Pro

I am using a 2nd Generation iPad pro and have noticed that, particularly when loading web pages, the screen will freeze for a few seconds during which time it will be completely unresponsive to touch gestures, scrolling etc. After a few seconds all becomes normal. There seems no pattern but the screen will freeze mutiple times on a daily basis and is becoming irritating.

What is causing this and is this anything that can be done to resolve the problem?

Oh, OK, I didn't realize that model had 256GB (y) I was thinking of a different iPad... i forgot you have a pro version.

OK, so assuming you got this around 2018, I would think it's not a hardware issue.... but this will be the last reason if we cannot get this resolved.

From what I have researched, you should do the following:

Make sure you close all apps (double tap home button then swipe up on the apps you are not using). These apps will be using the resources while they are still open in the background.

Try turning off Background App Refresh and see if that helps.

Try a force restart/reboot of the device (holding home button and power for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and an Apple logo shows)

Make sure the iOS is up to date

The last step is to back up your data (for safety) by using iTunes or iCloud, then perform a factory reset

Before reinsalling/restoring your data, try Safari and see if you get the freezing. If you do, then at this point you are looking at a hardware issue.

If you did get this in or after 2018 and you have applecare, then this device should be under warranty.
