This is my first post so apologies as I'm sure this is probably "an old chesnut" but I can't find my way round enough to find the answer.

My system is XP sp2 with ie7 as my browser (?). When running a "Diagnose Connection Problems" the FTP error 12029 is reported in active and passive modes. I'm sure I've encountered this before but don't know how it was resolved, although a destructive (ouch) restore springs to mind - my computer won't do a non-destructive for reasons only it knows.

I don't know if the above is a result of the following or the other way around but I have the following problems as well. If they need separate posts then please advise where.

I believe my computer has been compromised!! I cannot access the Microsoft Update Site (error 0x80072EE7) and Google searches are being redirected (some automatically) to "dodgy" sites. This is more worrying for me as last time this happened I lost everything.

Not very brief I'm sorry. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply.
Regards,
gdg596.
