My friend and I are talking about villages/towns/cities that have funny/interesting names. I remember there used to be a thread on here that used to be about these places that had weird names. (Can any one find it?)

Any way I found a few more:

My friend's aunt lives in Stinky Creek, but they've changed the name of the town. Btw there is no creek... there's a river and a dam. And she says the water better not be stinky, cos it's the town's main water supply!

There's also Rooty Hill, which is part of Sydney, Australia. (In Australia we use the term root to mean "to have sex")

Another friend swears that there's a place in Germany called Bitsch. Hmmm...

Wagga Wagga and Gin Gin are places in Australia.

How about two near me:

Frog Pond and Big Lick North Carolina. I think they should combine the two and call it Frog Lick. My wife suggested Big Pond but Frog Lick is funnier.

I also support changing Belgium's name to Sprout just for the comedic value of having a place called Brussels Sprout.

I once knew a guy from Manhattan Kansas. The Little Apple. Seriously that's what they called it.

There's also Op(p) and Eutaw, Alabama.

"Once Brewed" and "Twice Brewed" are two villages not far apart in the North of England, as is "Pity Me".

For our British members (only in so much as I don't think you have that second place name as a word in the U.S - it's a derogatory word as in twit, but stronger :) )
