I have funny moving lines across on my display. Not sure if this is the beginning of a hardware problem or a software one. I updated my video driver, still the same funny colorful, barcode looking lines that will disappear when I drag the mouse over them...only to reappear again. Can you check out my hijack log and recommend any obvious changes? Thanks.

Here is my log

Yes, I do. I wasn't even thinking it could be the monitor itself...I've only had it for 6 months. I'll try that, tho.

Well, no funny colorful, barcode-ish lines on my test monitor. My computer worked nicely this AM and let me recover 1 CD of data (only), since then it's done nothing but freeze when it tries to load the Reg Smart trial software. So, I tried the new monitor. Since I'm hooked up to a different monitor and the computer seems to be stable temporarily, I think I'll try to backup more files. CD Writer usually give me some lame error after trying to write for 5 minutes or so tho.

Could you look at my log anyway...I think I might try the repair feature for XP after I save my data. Is there a Reg Cleaner you recommend? I'm willing to try that first. Wehn I run msconfig, I see that I have stopped lots of services at one time, do you want to see that? (I think I read that on another post)

Here is my log...

Overall the log doesn't look bad

Rescan with Hijack This.
Close all browser windows except Hijack This.
Put a check mark beside these entries and click "Fix Checked".

Hmmm...I am getting some colorful, barcodish lines now, but only about 1/10 the amount I was getting with my original monitor. Ideas? My CPU is often at 100%. I always just thought it was McAfee.

It kinda sounds the video card to me. Is it onboard video or is there an actual video card installed?

Hmmmmmmm and you already updated the drivers.
Are the lines there all the time? or only when you click on something with the mouse?

No, the lines are not there all the time. They 'seem' to appear when my CPU is nearing 100%. (when I connect to the internet or launch the Kodak EasyShare software) Then, if I move my mouse over them, it erases them...if I do that for a couple minutes, it usually crashes the computer. It's a very strange problem since they are not static lines.

and yes, I did update the drivers yesterday.

I missed your 10:01 post about my log when I posted at 10:20, I'll try your suggestions now...and post the results/changes.

OK, I checked
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wcmdmgr] C:\WINDOWS\wt\updater\wcmdmgrl.exe -launch

Fixed and Rebooted. Still the same. The system looks fine until it loads the Registry Cleaner software and then MSN. I'm going to uninstall the Registry Cleaner software and then it will stress out when it loads MSN.

What now? any other ideas?
