I've aquired a GA-6VTXE motherboard which was still boxed and unused.
I fitted a 1GHz Celeron cpu, 128 meg of memory .The problem is when I boot the computer I get no display and series of eight short beeps ,which keep repeating.
The beeps appear to indicate a graphics card problem (AMI bios).
I,ve used two known working AGP graphics cards (ATI expert 2000 & Sparkle Ge-force 2 MX 200) and made sure they are seated properly in the slot.
My question is, does this indicate a fault with the motherboard
particularly the AGP slot, or is there something I'm missing.

Do you have access to a PCI video card? Just to exclude the AGP slot as a factor.

    First Name:

double check the manual to make sure all jumpers, switches are correct. Also take a look at the BIOS updates, see the Older versions as well, there is a problem with Celeron 1 gig cpu's and this board and a memory issue.
