    Hiya

Have you defragged lately? Also, is it with all games or just a select few? If the latter, can you post them? Whats your video card?

Also, can we see your startup? Go to Run and type MSINFO32. On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Copy/paste here

    Regards

Thats okay. All were new once. :p

I assume that you have coppied the list somewhere, or can copy when I tell you how to paste.

When you're here, typing your reply, just rightclick anywhere in this white box, and choose Paste.

If you require any more help, just Yell.

Okay, it dosen't look like much, but we'll sift through it.

MICROSOFT WORKS CALENDAR REMINDERS: Produces a pop-up reminder of events scheduled using the MS Works Calendar. Not required

Taskbar Display Controls: Only appears in MSCONFIG if you have a Display Settings icon in the System Tray allowing resolution changes on the fly. Can also be disabled under Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings -> Advanced -> General

PPWebCap: "Paper Port" software associated with scanners. Not required

    ScanRegistry: keep

TaskMonitor: The Task Monitor the disk-access patterns of programs when they are started and stores this information in log files in the Applog folder. Task Monitor also records the number of times you use a program. The Disk Defragmenter tool uses this information to optimize your hard disk so that programs that you use frequently are loaded faster. Not required - but can be useful

PCHealth: WinME. This is a "scheduler" and does not turn off PC Health

    SystemTray: keep

LoadPowerProfile: Power management specifics such as monitor shut-off, system standby, etc. Keep

SchedulingAgent: Microsoft Scheduling Agent displayed as a box with a stopwatch in the System Tray - only needed if you have regular scheduled disk defragmenting, ScanDisk, etc. Recommend you run these at regular intervals anyway so not needed as they can interrupt other programs

SSDPSRV: WinME. For future Plug and Play devices only. Provides Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP) and General Event Notification Architecture (GENA) services for Universal Plug and Play functionality. You can uninstall it by going to Add Remove programs in Control Panel -> Windows Setup -> Communications. Starts up a web server on port 5000

*StateMgr: WinME. Windows default for System Restore. Do NOT disable

StillImageMonitor: If your scanner does not have a button to initiate scanning you kill stimon. Even if it does have a button, you can still manually launch the scanning application. If unavailable via Start -> Programs

To remove the ones you don't want, go to Run and type MSCONFIG and go to Startup tab. Uncheck all you don't want, apply and restart. If you're unsure about any, then do seperately, but apply and restart after each one.

    Now, have you defragged lately?

I'll look at your video card and see if there are any new drivers, but for the moment, try the above.

    Regards

    eddie
