recently i have not been able to play resident evil 5 or dead space on my computer. the games ran fine for a long time, but not when i double click the icon nothing happens. i have have tried reinstalling the games multiple time and updating direct x and video driver, nothing seems to work. although splinter cell: conviction seem to work fine. any ideas?

im running Windows XP pro service pack 3; Nvidia 8800GT; 1GB ram

is there an error message when you double click on the short cut icon? have you try running the game from the game folder?

download process monitor. open the monitor and run the games. it should tell you some info about what's going on.

try to filter out some of the stuff that you dont need/constant running. and then run the program. you should see the program at the bottom of the list with some info.
