hey im wanting to upgrade my current computer. i was thinking about getting:

EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail Link:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130085

    and

    Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Retail Link:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115052

so my question is what new motherboard should i get? I already have 2x 512mb sticks of ram but i would like a total of 2-3 gigs of ram. So if you could help me out by telling what is a good mobo and some ram that would be greatly appreciated. I would like to keep the price not to expensive. if possible under $120.

    Thanks for your time.

The CPU is a good choice. The video card isn't and the link doesn't work. What is your total budget and what all do you have now and what do you need to buy?

Just for reference, what is your current computer specs?

Also, maybe looking at a 512MB graphics card instead of 256? Just a thought, but it will run better :)

And if you are looking at $100 for a graphics card, you wouldn't get a good 'gaming' one.
I know this as I'm currently looking at my pinboard with a price list of my local IT store's GPU prices :p

    E.g - ASUS 512MB EN8800GTS - $339!!

Oh, and we at least need to know what power supply you as its a key component in the PC. Your old power supply may not be of high enough wattage or may not have enough amps on the 12 volt rail to power the new components.

You have to open up the computer and check the label on the power supply itself.

Also note that most new motherboards only support 2 PATA IDE devices and the rest is all SATA, so depending on what hard drives and CD drive you have now, you may not be able to use all three of them.

Oh and sorry I screwed up my list for the video cards. I had actually only wanted to suggest the Radeon HD3850's and not the HD 3650's, I didn't look close enough. Here's the list I wanted you to look at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...62 1067933728&name=Radeon HD 3850&Order=PRICE

Check out some reviews to performance of these cards: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/652/1/ and http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/msi-hd3650.html

If you are building a gaming computer then the video card is not something you should skimp on.
