Help! My (garbage) Gateway laptop charger is barely working. The tip, the part that you plug into the computer, is sliding in and out way too easily and has to be held in a specific position or it will not charge. I don't know what to do. I suspect it's the port within the computer that isn't working properly, but I am not sure. Please help!

Also, I guess it should be noted that my computer needs it's batter renewed, but I don't believe that it's the battery that's not letting it charge.

What's the exact model number and serial number and SNID number on that Gateway laptop?

Can you submit some images of what that laptop's charging port looks like?

Is that the original power adapter that came with that laptop?

This is about as close as I could get to the port without my camera losing focus. And yes, that is the original adapter. The only thing different is the nozzle, but it's the same type and color as the original.

The serial number and SNID number both confirm you have a Gateway NV77H laptop which came with Windows 7 64-bit with an upgrade to Windows 8 64-bit.

I'm not there to examine your laptop and its power adapter.
From what I can see in your images, I suspect the power adapter connector is worn and not fitting the laptop's charging port pin snug enough.

Okay, cool. How do I fix it? Do I have to get a larger plug/connector?

Personally, I would buy a new power adapter for that laptop.
If you google gateway nv77h power adapter, it'll bring up several links you can look at.

If you have needle-nose pliers and you're willing to try it, squeeze the power adapter connector

VERY slightly so it can be pushed in and fit more snugly in the charging port pin.

Oh, thank you! I really don't want to risk what i have right now, but I'll be sure to purchase a new adapter soon! Thanks so much!
